NEW YORK (Reuters)-the company making the most of a job in almost a year in November, adding cautiously that optimism the country battered labor market is working the way toward healing.
Housing a better than expected and the regional plant data released on Wednesday reinforced the view that the economy should avoid recession, although growth is unlikely to be quick.
"All of this confirms the economy, after slowing down in the late spring and early summer, back on the firm 2 (per cent) to the growth of 2.5 per cent," said Steve Blitz, senior economist at ITG Investment Research in New York.
However, Blitz added, "Firstly, I must temper enthusiasm that these figures showed that economic growth is accelerating, and second, it's still a very dangerous world out there."
